01 / EXPERIENCE
Annette’s triathlon journey
Annette’s triathlon journey began with a mountain bike fitted with road tyres, a free trisuit from 220 Triathlon magazine, and a transition area in a pub car park. That start still shapes how she coaches today.
Annette knows what it feels like to be the beginner, and to feel “average”. She has been overtaken, had mechanicals, DNS/DNFs, wondered whether she’d make the cutoff, doubted she was good enough, and had to work hard on confidence and mental resilience.
Since that pub car park, she has raced triathlon from sprint all the way up to 70.3 and including the famous Long Course Weekend in Wales, possibly her favourite race ever. On the run, she has completed distances all the way up to 100km, most recently London Marathon simply enjoying the experience of a major marathon.
Proof, that it is absolutely possible to keep chipping away and to achieve greater feats than you believe are possible with the right support and mindset. She combines the ability to understand both ends of the journey as well as the highs and lows of racing and training. She has been where many of her athletes are now, and she can help them through the same challenges with great empathy and kindness.
02 / KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE
Qualifications and experience
Annette has coached running for over ten years and is qualified with England Athletics. She is also a Hyrox-qualified and ESCI coach as well as a Level 3 Personal Trainer, with additional qualifications in spin, outdoor fitness, kettlebells, nutrition, run gait analysis and TRX. She is currently working through her Level 4 in Strength & Conditioning.
This breadth lets her look at the whole athlete, not just the direct involvement in the sport. She helps you build the strength, mobility and robustness that keep you training consistently and enjoying it.
She is a central member of her local running club, where she also supports other run leaders through their development pathway. Helping others grow in confidence as coaches is as rewarding to her as helping athletes reach the start line.
Most Saturday mornings you’ll find her at parkrun, either running or volunteering. She is a big believer in the community it creates and the way it welcomes everyone, whatever their pace. She’s also a regular at the local Hyrox outdoor gym, because she’s never happier than when she’s outdoors, moving, and surrounded by people doing the same.
03 / EVERY ATHLETE, INDIVIDUALLY
Coaching approach
Annette’s coaching is always athlete-centred.
She starts with who you are, what your life looks like and what you want from your sport, and builds from there. She works with athletes who are balancing careers, families and everything else life brings, and who want structure, clarity and a coach who genuinely listens and understands.
Annette believes training should enhance your life, not dictate it.
When work gets busy, family needs you, or life simply gets hard, she adapts alongside you and supports you through it without judgement. She sees progress as consistent and sustainable, not perfect, and believes every athlete deserves to feel supported, understood and confident in their own journey.
Whether it’s your first 5K, your first triathlon or your first ultra, she’ll be by your side, even supporting you on race day where possible.
YOUR AMBITION. YOUR COACHING.
